Firefox 130 improves its translation tool and includes Labs in the stable channel

Firefox 130

Mozilla has just made official the launch of Firefox 130. It is a new stable version that is not very groundbreaking if we take into account the number of changes, but those who need a good translation tool may not think the same. Explaining what a language means in our language is something that they have been improving for some time, partly because they seek to respect the privacy of their users, as always– or usually — Mozilla has done.

For weeks now, the red panda browser has allowed you to translate selected text, but starting with Firefox 130 it will allow you to translate what has been translated again. The function that we get today allows you to translate selected text, that remains the same, but the new thing is that it will continue to work even if the page has already been completely translated. What comes now is the list with news which have arrived with Firefox 130.

What's new in Firefox 130

  • Firefox now allows you to translate selected portions of text into different languages after a full page translation.
  • Firefox now offers an easy way to try out experimental features with a new Firefox Labs page in Settings. Currently, you can find:
    • AI Chatbot feature that allows you to add the chatbot of your choice to the sidebar, for quick access while browsing.
    • Picture-in-Picture auto-opening experiment lets videos float when switching tabs.
  • Overscroll animations are now enabled as the default behavior for scrollable areas on Linux.
  • The following languages are now supported by Firefox translation: Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, and Vietnamese.
  • WebCryptoAPI now supports Curve25519 primitives (Ed25519 signatures and X25519 key generation).
  • Enabled the Web Codecs API on desktop platforms, allowing low-level access to audio and video encoders and decoders.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Copy” and “Paste” context menu items were intermittently not being activated when expected.
  • Bug fixes and security patches.

Firefox 130 it was announced a few moments ago and can now be downloaded from your official website and the project repository. We remind you that the snap package is available by default in Ubuntu, and that they will soon update the flatpak as well.
