New Year's Eve is just a few hours away and we don't always have company or we don't like the one we have. Here is a list of games to welcome the new year in style.
These are games under an open source license that you can find it in the Ubuntu repositories or in the Flatpak store.

Super Tux Kart
The other day I was asking my followers on X about their favorite Linux applications of the year and one of them reminded me of this game that is in the Ubuntu and FlatHub repositories. In SuperTuxKart, mascots from open source projects compete by driving karts in different events.
Some of its characteristics:
- Characters and vehicles: SuperTuxKart lets you choose which free software pet to race. Each pet has its own unique abilities, as does the vehicle it drives.
- Scenarios: You can compete in a variety of scenarios with different terrains, climates and times of day. Each has a different level of difficulty.
- Competencies: In SuperTuxKart you can participate in different types of tests, from individual races to treasure hunts, races against the clock or tournaments, or eliminate competitors.
- Competencies: It is possible to play against the computer or other players both locally and online.
- Objects: During the competition you can collect items that allow you to protect yourself or eliminate competitors.
- Additional content: It is possible to download new scenarios, circuits and competitors.
The biggest criticism you can make of this game is that if you forget your username and password there is no way to recover them.

Neverball
Neverball is a very easy game to describe but not so easy to play. It's about moving a ball through different mazes. To move it you have to move the playing field by changing its inclination with the mouse. We can achieve more time and unlock levels by collecting coins.
Some features:
- Various levels: Neverball has several levels of increasing difficulty. Some are wide open and closed spaces, wide or narrow.
- Game modes: The main objective is to move the ball through the maze before time runs out. In addition, we must collect as many coins as possible.
- Realistic Physics: The program simulates very well the response of the ball to the movement of the stage.
- Level Editor: If you get tired of the game's levels you can create your own with the editor.
- Graphics and Sounds: The graphics and sounds are good enough for the game without demanding too many hardware resources.
- Video recording: Games can be recorded for later playback.

Armagetron Advanced
For computer lovers who grew up in the 80s, the movie Tron is just a few steps below WarGames on the list of iconic films. It tells the story of Kevin Flynn, a programmer who tries to access the computer systems of the company he works for in order to find evidence against a colleague. While doing so, he is absorbed by the program that controls the computers.
Armagetron Advances recreates one of the most famous scenes from the film in which two motorcycles compete to enclose each other in a trail of light that they leave behind.
The game can be played both locally and online. and we can compete against the computer and other players. It is also possible to customize the bikes or choose which online server to join to compete against other players online.
Although the graphics are not spectacular, the response of the vehicles and the point of view to mouse movements is.
