After the hangover of a few weeks in which there have been new versions of point of GNOMEThe project and the developers who are somehow connected or want to be connected to the project have continued their work. Thus, a few hours ago, they published the updates from the week of April 18-25, with new application versions among the most notable changes.
Software in GNOME is usually obtained from the GNOME Software application, unless you use a distribution like Ubuntu that chooses to use a fork to prioritize snap packages. Software is the first thing that appears in the next News list.
This week in GNOME
- A useful profile-guided optimization of XML parsing in gnome-software (which occurs every time the repository metadata is updated) has been performed, and some improvements have been found.
- Further progress in the quest to move away from GdkPixbuf. Glycin now provides a thumbnailer that can be used to create thumbnails for all image formats for which Glycin loaders are installed. This is already resulting in more supported image formats, correct color profile support, better support for images with a bit depth greater than 8 bits, better support for Exif orientations, and memory-safe implementations for most formats.
- A new version of ASHPD Demo, the portal testing application, has been released. This version adds support for USB and Global Shortcut portals, as well as support for STF.
- Cambalache 0.96.0 has arrived with:
- Support for GResource.
- Support for internal “children”.
- New project format.
- Save directly to .ui files.
- Displays the directory structure in the navigation.
- Add notification system (version, messages and surveys).
- Unified import dialog for all file types.
- Updates widget catalogs to SDK 48.
- After a long period of inactivity, Stockpile 0.5.0 has been released. This version brings the application to GNOME 48, in addition to improving the user experience with a new start screen and the ability to recover corrupted data.
- Pipeline versions 2.2.0 and 2.2.2 were released this week. Starting with this version, Pipeline will use all Piped instances configured in the parallel settings to query the feed.
- Flare 0.16.0 arrived with initial support for receiving stickers.
And this has been all this week in GNOME.
