Week with many new features in KDEOr at least if we focus on the user interface. Aside from two points, and the bug fixes, everything they've announced will arrive in Plasma 6.6 and will be applied to the user interface, suggesting that the project sees room for improvement in the first thing we notice when we turn on a computer with its desktop installed.
What follows is the list with all those new featuresAs we mentioned, we left the bugs out; anyone who wants to see the complete list of changes, in case they have already encountered a bug they are experiencing, should visit the original link that we will provide at the end of this article.
New features coming to the KDE user interface
plasma 6.6
- You can now use Alt+click/double-click on desktop items to view their properties, just like in Dolphin.
- When a printer runs out of ink in several cartridges simultaneously, all the warnings are condensed into a single notification.
- The System Preferences graphics tablet page now makes it clearer when a lack of configurable buttons is due to a missing driver.
- Spectacle now offers a Cancel button in the rectangular selection overlay to exit without having to press Esc.
- Locking the screen from the app launcher now closes the launcher before locking, preventing it from remaining open after unlocking.
- In distributions that require authentication to activate the function to automatically adjust the date and time, closing the authentication window without authenticating no longer causes the page to display an error.
- Applications launched from the Favorites view of the Kickoff, Kicker, and Dashboard widgets are now added to the "Recent Apps" section.
- Several System Preferences pages were revised to better conform to KDE's human interface guidelines.
- They no longer allow attempts to change the usernames of logged-in users, as this does not work anyway.
- We now receive a warning about the possible consequences of trying to disable the built-in System Tray Notifications widget, as they may not be obvious.
