KDE They published their weekly update report yesterday, Saturday. Their list includes some changes that are already available, as they were introduced for the plasma 6.6.1 which arrived last Tuesday, but they've also told us about changes for 6.6.2, which will arrive in just over a week, and the future Plasma 6.7, the next series with major changes for which we will still have to wait several months.
What follows is the list with this week's news.
New Features Coming to KDE
plasma 6.7
- The Vietnamese lunar calendar has been added to the list of "alternative calendars" available in the Digital Clock widget.
- The OpenVPN configuration interface was revamped to include numerous new options offered by the underlying system.
KDE interface improvements
Already in Plasma 6.6.1
- The appearance of the large clock digits on the home and session lock screens has been improved.
plasma 6.6.2
- The "cursor tracking" accessibility feature now respects the tracking mode set in the zoom effect, instead of always using "proportional" mode.
- Changing the "Show virtual [network] connections" option no longer requires restarting Plasma or the computer to take effect.
- When removing a widget with a pinned popup, the popup now closes immediately instead of after dismissing the "Undo deletion of this widget?" notification.
plasma 6.7
- A new rounded style for selection highlights has begun to be implemented in Breeze-themed QtWidgets-based applications such as Dolphin, Okular, and KMail. This adopts the style used for years for list highlights in QtQuick-based applications and menu items, and paves the way for everything to be styled consistently from a central location using the upcoming Union style system.
- When you mark an app as a favorite in the Kickoff app launcher, the "Favorites" category now flashes, indicating that the action was successful and where to find the new favorite.
- On the Network Connections page of System Preferences, the "Wi-Fi" and "Wi-Fi Security" tabs were merged into one.
- A button was added to the System Preferences Application Permissions page to immediately revoke all screen casting sessions, avoiding having to do it one by one when there are many.
- The text and icon displayed in notifications sent by Plasma have been improved.
Performance and technical in KDE
plasma 6.6.2
- Compatibility with mice that have high-resolution scroll wheels was improved in the integrated remote desktop (RDP) server.
