plasma 6.5.1

KDE announced a few moments ago plasma 6.5.1, which is the first maintenance update of the series that launched its first stable just seven days agoThe big changes came on the 21st, with changes like more rounded corners in the Breeze theme, more improvements to Wayland and support for flatpak+https links (if using Discover), and now it's time for patches that will improve performance and usability.

Among the most notable new features, it's now possible to drag items out of the favorites grid in the Start menu without accidentally reordering them. The option to switch wallpapers between light and dark mode has been improved. Progress notifications have been improved so they don't prompt users to see more details when only one item is available.

Other new features in Plasma 6.5.1

Other new features include:

  • Improved borders in GTK 3 application menus.
  • The handling of geo:// links has been improved.
  • Spectacle has fixed a bug that caused an extra line of pixels to appear below window title bars.
  • Fixed several issues on the Remote Desktop page in System Preferences.
  • Fixed two regressions that caused KWin to crash.

Plasma 6.5.1 was announced a few moments ago, which means developers can now grab its code. It will soon be available for the fastest rolling release Linux distributions, such as Arch Linux, and later for others. Kubuntu 25.10 will remain on Plasma 6.4, as long as the KDE Backports repository isn't added.

Plasma 6.5.2 will arrive next week, fixing more bugs. The third release will follow two weeks after the second release, and subsequent releases will follow the Fibonacci series, for a total of six.
