Given the time of year, and with Christmas officially beginning today in Spain, I was wondering if there was a Linux way to celebrate it. A new way, since I remembered posting something about it a while ago, something that I did it on our sister blog LXAIn fact, what I published is also included in the screenshot at the top of this article, but what you need to pay attention to is what is known as Gnomelets.
Gnomelets is an extension for GNOME Shell that I discovered while browsing the blogosphere, more specifically in OMG! Free!where they have also published a short video showcasing the animations. These animations feature several Santa Clauses, also Known as Father Christmas in countries like Spain, he's been wandering around the desktop. The Santa Claus himself is new, but the extension isn't. These Santas were added for this Christmas season.

I'm not sure if the above has made it clear what Gnomelets is. If not, the description says that "… Small, animated 2D characters come to life, letting them roam freely across your screen. They walk, jump, and even swing on top of your open windows."That is, small characters moving around the desk, to which Santa Claus's team has recently been added."
The small characters are designed in a pixel art style, reminiscent of classic console games like those on the Nintendo or Master System II. Once the extension is installed, you launch it, choose a character type, and that's it. They're not intrusive enough to significantly reduce productivity, and the only noticeable effect is a slight increase in RAM usage.
Gnomelets is available for GNOME 45 and later and can be obtained here.
