Days before the release of Ubuntu 25.04, Canonical did something it doesn't usually do, which was publish the codename of the next version Ubuntu. It usually waits to release a stable version before announcing what's coming next, but that wasn't the case this time. It's now in a timeframe with fewer surprises. development began of Ubuntu 25.10, and today another small step has been taken towards the next stop which will take place in October.
Specifically, today The first Daily Build has been published of Ubuntu 25.10. What does this mean for the average user? Nothing, really. The "daily" releases are intended for developers, and what's available right now is nothing more than Ubuntu 25.04 with the development repositories. In other words, these are the foundations upon which Ubuntu 25.10 will be built, but right now, we could say that what's available is nothing more than a building plot or a building site. That is, of course, if what you're hoping to use is something from Questing Quokka.

For users interested in downloading the Daily Build, please go to Ubuntu cdimage, and there choose the flavor. Once selected, you have to go to the daily-live section and then choose an option from the current, manual y pendingThe best option would be manual, which has passed all tests and is proven to work well, but at the time of writing, it's not available. Second, you'd have to choose manual, and last, you'd have to choose slope.
It is likely that the first few days will fail to install, at least in virtual machines, something that is also worth taking into account.
As we explained, there are few or no new features that are not already in Ubuntu 25.04. Later, it is expected that they will switch to using sweat-rs, and in September they will upgrade to Linux 6.17 or 6.18 and update the desktops to newer versions.
