With permission from a Kylin whose visits make it clear that he is not of much interest to our readers, the round of articles on the Oracular Oriole releases ends with the last three flavors to become official flavors. The first of these three is dubuntu 24.10, but we will put them all together in one post because in all three cases they come with the same news… more or less. And there are not many.
Edubuntu 24.10 has gone up to GNOME 47, but it has not included any new features beyond an updated wallpaper and applications. The cases of Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.10 and Ubuntu Unity 24.10 are nothing more than an update, since they continue using the same versions of the desktops that were added in 24.04: Cinnamon 6.0.0 and Unity 7.7 respectively.
Edubuntu 24.10, Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.10 and Ubuntu Unity 24.10 use the same base as the rest

Updated posts
Being official flavors, they are required to release a new ISO every six months, even if that translates into just upload base packages and update applications. Still, the changes in Cinnamon and Unity may not be enough to make you want to upgrade, especially considering that the previous release is an LTS. In the education edition, Edubuntu 24.10 has at least been bumped up to GNOME 47.
Perhaps the most notable news of all is that Much progress has been made on the ISO with Lomiri desktop, which uses the new “Unity” that is present in devices with Ubuntu Touch. Its developer, Saraswat, has not explained what he intends to do with this “Remix” or whatever, but he is working on it together with UBports. Many bugs have been fixed in 24.10. It does not help much to be optimistic that the installer is the previous one based on Flutter and that there is no option to change the resolution, which would allow it to be used at least in a virtual machine.
