Install Clockwork Recovery (CWM) on Ainol Novo 7 Elf tablet

For about a month I have been happy to own a nice brand Chinese tablet Ainol, the model Novo7 Elf With a 7 ″ screen, the truth is that I cannot complain, the device behaves quite well, it has quite decent hardware for the price it costs, you can watch HD videos without problems and all the games I have tried it runs No problem.

La Ainol Novo 7 Elf comes from the factory with Android 4.0.3 (ICS), and the "little" problem it has is that most of the applications it brings are in Chinese, and an even bigger problem is that it doesn't come (at least the version that came in mine, I think newer versions already bring it ) the Android Market or Google Play

This is easily solvable by installing one of the Rom available thanks to the varied scene that most Ainol products have.

In my case I have installed the rom Essential Clean 1.1a, that in addition to removing Chinese applications, installing Google Play, adds many more functionalities and performance improvements (changelog here) and that is installed by Clockwork Recovery(CWM), Those of us who have a phone with Android and CyanogenMod, for example, know how easy it is to install roms from the CWM and from which we can do some of these things

- Install roms and other things without the PC
- Reboot if something happens and does not start.
- Partially delete, Cache, Dalvik Cache,
- Make backups and restores
-… Among other things

Install Clockwork Recovery (CWM) on Ainol Novo 7 Elf tablet

Download the appropriate file for your firmware version in this case CWM for Android 4.0.x
- Unzip this on the internal card of the tablet (not the external one)
- Check that you have a terminal emulator installed. If not, install it for free from Google Play -> Terminal Emulator
- Run with the command lines to run the install-recovery.sh

$ su # sh /sdcard/install-recovery.sh

Who we use Linux we are familiar with the symbols and the terminal but we are going to clarify it for the unsuspecting, the $ and # symbols are the ones that have to come out before applying the command, when executing its, application superuser I will surely ask you super user permissions for the terminal, you must accept.

With these steps you should already have the CWM installed

How to reboot the system to recovery from the terminal

-Run the following command line (assuming you unzipped all the files on the internal SD)

$ su # sh /sdcard/reboot-recovery.sh

The tablet will restart and we will see something like this (sorry for the quality of the photo)

How to enter recovery from the Stop Tablet:
- Press and hold the buttons: Back + Power
- When the tablet boots and they see the android logo release the buttons
- They enter the Recovery

How to get around recovery:
- To select the option: Power
- To move through the list: «Vol +» or «Vol-» and holding down press the «Back» (the latter is not necessary in the latest versions like the one that comes in 4.0.3 of feiyo)
- For previous menu: Back

How to install a rom with the recovery:

- Download the zip of the rom for example the one that I recommend Essencial Clean 1.1a
- Put it in a microsd or in the Internal SD
- Stop the tablet
- Boot into recovery mode (press «Back» + »Power» until the android logo appears and then release)
- Do a wipe / factory reset (unless expressly indicated otherwise depending on the origin and destination rom)
- Select install zip from SDCard (depending on where you have put the zip)
- Browse until you find the zip
- Press power and then confirm
- Once finished press the back button and the reboot system option

if everything goes well, when you restart the tablet you will see this

To something like this
