One of the most attractive features of Xubuntu is the ability to customize our desks however we like, through a great infinity of window themes, icons, cursors ...
In this small article we want to show you how can we install new themes in case you still don't know how we can do it. It is very easy and now you will see it. Simply downloading our favorite themes and moving them to a specific directory they will be ready to be used. We tell you.
How we told you, there are three types of themes. Window Themes (GTK), Window Title Themes (XFWM4), and Icon Themes.
Installing a new theme
Installing them is as easy as downloading the .tar.gz corresponding to the theme we want, unzip it and move the unzipped folder to a specific directory. Depending on the type of theme that we have downloaded, we will have to move that folder to:
- ~ / .themes for GTK and XFWM4 themes.
- ~ / .icons if it is an icon theme
If you want to do it from the Terminal, you can do it in the following way.
We go to the directory where we have downloaded the .tar.gz about the topic:
cd / directory / from / download
We unzip the .tar.gz:
tar -xvzf topic_name.tar.gz
We move the unzipped folder to the corresponding directory:
mv folder_name ~ / .themes
(If it's about GTK or XFWM49 themes)
mv folder_name ~ / .icons
(If it's icon themes)
Where to download themes?
