Kubuntu 24.04
With the launch of Ubuntu 24.04 and all its other official flavors, one of the releases that attracted the most attention, In addition to the central focus "Ubuntu", it was undoubtedly the launch of Kubuntu and not only because it was an LTS launch (long support version), but many (who did not find out since February) expected it to be launched with the version of KDE Plasma 6 and personally I was in a stage of denial and something in me (a ray of hope) expected that there would be a last minute change, but nothing.
Without further ado, I would like to move on to the central topic of the article, which is to talk a little about the release of this new LTS version of Kubuntu 24.04 "Noble Numbat" and leaving aside the bad news, these are the changes and improvements that this launch.
What's new in Kubuntu 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat"?
This new LTS version that is presented from Kubuntu 24.04 like the other flavors of Ubuntu, has many characteristics in commonsuch as Linux Kernel 6.8 with improvements in the Zswap subsystem to free up RAM and security improvements with AppArmor migration, also the improvements and changes in APT and also the 3 year support (which offer all flavors of Ubuntu).

On the desktop side, as we already mentioned Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, I do not make the jump to KDE Plasma 6 and instead continues to offer KDE Plasma 5.27.11 with numerous updates and fixes for other applications, including KDE Frameworks 5.115, KDE Gear 23.08, Haruna, Krita, Kdevelop, Yakuake and DigiKam.
In addition, within the system packaging Firefox 117 and LibreOffice 24.2 updates included as Snap packages (although Ubuntu and other flavors include a more current version of Firefox), it is also follow on QT 5, since Qt 5.15.12 is used and PipeWire is offered as the default audio server.
As for the installer, unlike its other brothers, Kubuntu 24.04 does not offer the new installer that was prepared for this LTS release of Ubuntu, but has adopted the Calamares installer by default, offering three installation modes: "Full installation", "Normal installation" and "Minimal installation".
On the other hand, we can find that a collection of new selected wallpapers is offered from the Kubuntu wallpaper contest and as for the issue with Wayland, we will have to wait even longer as there is no clear answer on when it will be switched to Wayland by default since as such the Plasma Wayland session is available for testing installing the plasma-workspace-wayland package, but it is not supported.

As for those who are already users and are interested in being able to update their installation to the new version of Ubuntu Studio 24.04 LTS, they should know that they have two ways to do so.
The first of them is the automatic update from Kubuntu 24.04 LTS or Kubuntu 23.10, which you can do when the update is available for your system, you can know this through a notification in the system tray.
The other way is through a manual update, typing the following command in a terminal:
do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE
Alternatively, you can open a terminal and run the command
do-release-upgrade -m desktop
And with that, the update process will begin, which can take from a few minutes to hours (this depends a lot on your location and the speed of your internet connection).
If the message or the update to the new version does not appear, it is recommended that you first update your system with:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
