With regard to GNU/Linux Distributions or Distros, we can say, with great confidence, that there are thousands working today. But, also that most of these tend to be derivatives or respins of some others, which are usually considered Mother Distributions. Therefore, when it comes to news about releases or updates, those related to GNU/Linux Distros created from scratch are rarely reviewed or noticed, such as the case of the GNU/Linux distro “NuTyX”.

What is NutyX?

A quick scan of your Official website, makes it clear to us that NuTyX is a lightweight distribution of French origin, which is based on Linux From Scratch (LFS). However, it has many important things to highlight, among which the following can be mentioned:

  1. All of their ISOS include the System Initiation (Boot) SystemV and Systemd.
  2. It includes a custom package manager called "Letters" (Cards, in English).
  3. It is a highly versatile and minimalist rolling release distribution designed for intermediate and advanced Linux users.
  4. It has been generated using the techniques of Linux From Scratch (Linux from Scratch) and Beyond Linux From Scratch (Beyond Linux from Scratch).
  5. It has a good documentation, a growing User Community and a good team of developers involved.
  6. It allows the installation of both individual binary packages and a group of related binary packages, that is, from a simple application to complete or complex software, such as KDE Plasma or XFCE. And also, by compiling source packages from various repositories of the "ports" type.
