For many, news about the new releases of the KDE graphical environment will cease to be a major issue for a few months. You have the explanation at the end of this article, but the news that we will discuss here is that KDE has released Plasma 5.19.3, which is the third maintenance version of this series and that comes to continue correcting the bugs of a delivery that, for the most part, came to polish things up.
As practically always, the KDE project has published several articles on this landing, one of them to announce the launch and other to mention all the changes made. Most of the changes were made to the v5.19.1 of the graphical environment, which showed that there was much room for improvement. This time, like two weeks ago, KDE has also introduced novelties to polish the graphical environment, although much less. Below you have a list of the most outstanding news that have arrived today.
Plasma 5.19.3 Highlights
- When using a wallpaper pack with multiple sizes (for example, Plasma's default wallpaper), the correct size is now displayed when using a high DPI scaling factor or changing screen resolutions.
- Plasma startup sound no longer cuts out when PC starts.
- The new System Monitor widgets now always have the correct text color when using a Plasma theme with a different color scheme than the application's color scheme.
- System settings no longer hang when you open the apps page without any file manager installed.
- Plasma 5.19 regressions fixed in Plasma 5.19.3:
- The logout action in the Lock / Logout widget now works again.
- Window rules that use the WM_CLASS property now work again.
- Window rules created from the rules dialog accessed by right-clicking on a window's title bar are now saved and applied correctly.
- Removing multiple app shortcuts on the new Global Shortcuts page no longer crashes or causes System Preferences to crash.
The release of Plasma 5.19.3 is already official but, just as as we explained back in the day, will not reach the KDE Backports repository. The best way to enjoy it in the next few hours is to use KDE neon or some distribution whose development model is Rolling Release that will be added in the next few days.
