Plasma 5.23.4 arrives with a new batch of fixes for the 25th anniversary edition

plasma 5.23.4

KDE has released a few moments ago plasma 5.23.4. This is the fifth version of the 25th anniversary series, the fourth of maintenance that focuses on correcting the errors that have been detected in the last month and a half. So if you are waiting for exciting new features you should keep waiting until February, when Plasma 5.24 is released. If what you need is that something that does not work for you does it correctly, today you could be in luck.

As with all their releases, KDE has released two notes on the Plasma 5.23.4 landing, a in which they simply tell us that it has been released and another in which they detail the changes introduced. To save some time and make things a little clearer, we published a list with changes that Nate Graham advances us every Saturday.

What's New in Plasma 5.23.4

  • The Alacritty terminal reopens with the correct window size.
  • Toolbar buttons in GTK3 applications that do not use CSD header bars (such as Inkscape and FileZilla) no longer have unnecessary borders drawn around them.
  • Open / Save dialogs in Flatpak or Snap apps now remember their previous size when reopened.
  • The text "Show in file manager" in Plasma Vaults can now be translated.
  • The touchpad applet has been restored after being removed in Plasma 5.23, and is now back as a read-only status notifier that simply visually shows when the touchpad is disabled, such as the caps lock and notifier applets the microphone.
  • Fixed a common crash in the systray.
  • Fixed a common crash in Discover when used to manage Flatpak applications.
  • The logout screen again has a blurred background and becomes animated as it appears and disappears.
  • Cursor and centered Breeze-style scroll bars no longer blend as much with your track.

The release of Plasma 5.23.4 it's official, but that just means your code is already available. Very soon, if you haven't already, you will be coming to KDE neon, the operating system that KDE controls the most. It should also be coming to Kubuntu + Backports soon, and later to other distributions such as those using the Rolling Release development model.
