Plasma 6.0.2 has arrived and continues with the bug purge

plasma 6.0.2

Continuing with its usual schedule, KDE just launched plasma 6.0.2. It is the second maintenance update of the 6.0 series, and it has arrived to continue correcting the bugs that have been found in recent days. According to what is said, KDE is being used a lot lately, which is causing many bugs to be reported, with an average of 150-200 per week. In the project they explain it with the use, that the more people switch to KDE, the more errors are identified.

Plasma 6.0 arrived in good shape, but it is logical that there are things to polish. And they are polishing them. Despite the great leap that was made, no more failures are being experienced than, for example, when launching a new version of Plasma 5.x. What you have below is a list with several of the bugs fixed in Plasma 6.0.2. We remember that this second point update has arrived with only seven days of difference with respect to the earlier version.

Some of the novelties of Plasma 6.0.2

  • Using a keyboard shortcut to activate the Calculator widget in a Dashboard now passes focus to it correctly so you can start typing to calculate things immediately.
  • Discover no longer crashes when searching for several fairly common terms, including “libreoffice.”
  • Fixed “Move to Desktop > All Desktops” title bar menu item on X11.
  • Fixed a case where Plasma could exit (not crash) with a Wayland protocol error after turning the screens off and on again.
  • Fixed a bug where KWin could crash when opening a window on a secondary display connected to a secondary GPU.
  • The previous solution for VLC and MPV not being able to maximize turned out to not be enough, so I reinforced it, and now it should actually always work.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Night Color to not work on systems with certain graphics hardware.
  • The first search result in the Kicker app menu is no longer sometimes obscured by the search field.
  • When dragging a window off the left side of the screen, the cursor no longer moves unexpectedly.
  • Setting the system language to “C” on the Region and Language page of System Settings no longer clutters text in individual format previews.

plasma 6.0.2 has been announced a few moments ago. It should first come to KDE neon, and shortly after to a few distributions with a Rolling Release development model. The rest of the distros will wait a while that will depend on their development philosophy and release of updates.
