Shotcut 19.08 arrives with many new features, including several to convert files in batches

Shotcut 19.08.16

Although Shotcut has been in development since 2004, many of us choose Kdenlive. Personally, I do not like changes, Kdenlive has never failed me or left me "hanging" without being able to perform a task and there are also many tutorials on the internet that will allow me to do practically anything that I propose. But there are alternatives and the protagonist of this article does not stop improving to convince anyone who is still undecided. The latest version to arrive has been Shotcut 19.08.16, released yesterday.

Shotcut 19.08.16/XNUMX/XNUMX has arrived with a total of 36 changes, many of them to correct errors. The section where they tell us about the changes introduced in the «Filters» stands out because «The combination of the above fixes and changes means that you can now easily batch convert files while applying image stabilization and audio normalization.«.

Shotcut 19.08/36 introduces XNUMX improvements and fixes

Among the most prominent changes that come with this version, we have:

  • The behavior of double-clicking a playlist has been changed so that it now opens the clip instead of copying it.
  • Added the keyboard shortcut Shift + C to copy an item from the playlist.
  • Fixed a performance regression on multiple filters.
  • Eliminated Scrolling animation template HTML Blank Web Animations.
  • Added ability to stabilize and normalize: two-step filter analysis jobs to update pending export jobs.
  • Added option to run pending normalization and stabilization analysis jobs: two pass filters on export.
  • Ability to add resolution and refresh rates to the screens in Settings> External Monitor to make it easier to differentiate them.
  • Changed default video quality to 55% for YouTube presets and presets. This aligns with the default x264 crf of 23 and produces a smaller file that most people want to upload without significant quality loss.
  • Added text after Export> Advanced> Codec> Quality to show the specific quality level of the generated codec (eg crf for x264).
