Super City is the name of the game for Facebook in which three very popular tools in the world of free software were used during its creation: Chalk, Blender y GIMP.
The developers of Super City worked for almost two years on the game, which they have finally been able to publish. Paul Geraskin, from Playkot - the Russian company behind the video game - assured that it was a pleasure for them to work with FOSS of such high quality.
«Playkot has published the social game Super City. We are really happy with this event! Two years of development with Krita, Blender and GIMP. It's really nice to use tools like this. We used Blender with its internal engine, then Cycles appeared and we switched to it. For the textures we used GIMP first, but since December 2012 we switched to Krita as it is a more powerful tool for painting textures », Geraskin wrote on his Google+ profile, adding that he hopes there will be more integration between Krita and Blender.
According to Paul Geraskin, before launching the game they tested it on different Russian social networks and some Japanese and Korean sites. «[Super City] was played by 4 million users in Russia, Japan and Korea. All these people saw art made with Blender and Krita! ", Concludes the Playkot worker, but not without first thanking the developers and the community open source: "Thank you all! Thanks open source! Thanks to the Krita and Blender community! "
