Ubuntu 15.10 has been around for a few days, and as you would expect in Canonical They didn't take long to start with the next version. The Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus development cycle has already started, and can now be downloaded the first images daily of the new version of the operating system. The download site includes stable images of Ubuntu 15.10 and the unstable ones of the new version.
However, this is not the only new data we have regarding Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. For now, already the official development calendar has been published of this new version of Ubuntu, and with this the final date of Xenial Xerus release to the general public is already known.
According to this official calendar, the toolchain will be uploaded on October 29 and the first alpha version will appear on the last day of the yearIn other words, on December 31, 2015. The second alpha version will arrive on January 28, 2016, and the first beta version is expected on February 25.
The last build of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus before moving to the stable branch will arrive on March 24, and the final release date of the new version of the operating system is set for the April 21th 2016, at which time all users can enjoy a stable version of the latest Ubuntu iteration.
Until then you can download the ISO daily of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for 64 and 32 bits, but before launching to install them you should know that they are highly unstable versions that under no circumstances do we recommend that you run on your main machine or on production systems.
Next week, between November 2 and 5, the Ubuntu Online Summit will be held, where Ubuntu developers will be able to discuss upcoming features to be implemented in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

It is lighter ?
lol i just installed 15.04 and now i get with this
what a father .. let's look forward to the 16.04 lts
excellent!!! I understood that the final is coming for April? well and hopefully it's lighter. because I only have 2 gb of ram and 14.04 is doing very well for me
: 3 I got tired of Ubuntu. Sometimes I had a problem with a particular version (mostly thanks to Unity)… a patch never came out to fix it, but versions kept coming out. CAnonical should stop releasing versions all the time. Dedicate itself to releasing a version every 2 or 3 years, with enough updates to correct bugs. That fever of changing systems every so often at some point turns into fatigue. And I doubt it's lighter. Each ubuntu becomes a monster that eats resources larger than the previous one xD
You can always use LTS which is for those who do not like to update all the time, as there are also flavors of Ubuntu, all equally functional, only the graphical environment changes and therefore the requirements:
Xubuntu: 512 MB RAM, Pentium 3 700 mhz or equivalent, 2 GB of hdd and any integrated graphics, since it does not have so many special effects, it is the fastest of the branch
Lubuntu: exactly the same as above, only this one requires a bit more Gpu
Ubuntu-Mate: it is like going back to the past, since it requires the same as the old Ubuntu when they had Gnome 2
Ubuntu: the best known and used
Kubuntu: the heaviest of all and which is practically "rainbow vomit" has too many things XD
me since installing ubuntu. It was version 14.04 and I am going to be the year that I changed! at first I had errors because I did not know! 1 but I caused them myself 😀 then to correct it, I updated to 15.04 and I had several errors then I went up to 15.10 and the same thing happened .. and now I decided to return to 14.04 and I'm fine 🙂 without any error because I already learned hehe greetings 14.04 is more stable in my compaq c700 767la
I support your answer, I just stayed with 14.04, configuring it to your liking, it does not lose anything.
As is the LTS version, I will download it as soon as it comes out
I'm still using 10.04 lts, the best of all ubuntu, where they still run all their compiz effects without problems and enjoying gnome 2
I still think the best of all was the 10.04 lts
but it's expired
Whatever they say, UBUNTU is the best OS.
I have rescued several computers and where the rest click, UBUNTU always works for me.
A pity that there are programs (3D design and rendering) that do not run in LINUX because every day I find it harder to use windows.
