If you have the version of Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, you should know that the next edition of this operating system, the 16.05 will be a small update this. Its developers have decided open the system to developers through its open-source CLI tool, which allows you to install various development environments, both IDEs and SDKs, from third parties.
Having been designed from scratch, Free Make It will be an application that will allow both programmers and application designers to install all kinds of applications that are not found in traditional Ubuntu repositories, not even PPAs (Personal Package Archive).
The new edition of Ubuntu Make 16.05 is announced for next May 4 and promises correct problems Android Studio setup and latest Android SDK that appeared after the last changes made to your website. Also, you will be able to exchange your API with that of GitHub to use other frameworks like Superpowers or LightTable.
Ubuntu Make 16.05 too includes OpenJDK 8 (Java Development Kit) for the Android SDK, have been eliminated the dependencies of said kit with the Arduino IDE and Netbeans requirements have been updated so that it can be installed on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus).
The changes made in this new version of the system suggest that there will be a new edition soon, perhaps Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak). The PPA repository has been updated so that you can install Ubuntu Make 16.05 also on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) systems.
To carry out this improvement, open the console terminal and paste the following code in it. If you run it from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) you can skip the first sentence, because Ubuntu Make is already available in your software repository.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ubuntu-make sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y ubuntu-make
I have been reading your news for several weeks.
Thank you very much, you do a great job, and you are the only ones who give so much information at the moment about Ubuntu, at least in this language.
PS: Installing Ubuntu Make 😉
Silly question, 16.05 or 16.04.1? For the numbering of the versioned only ;-), that these Canonical mess my head bad thing.
The truth is that Ubuntu Make I tried it the other day in my Elementary OS, I tried to download Android Studio and it gave dependency errors with the web, it already missed me.
Now, when it comes to downloading WebStom, IntelliJ Idea and Pycharm, yes, yes, I am a big fan of JetBrains IDEs <3 xD.
Good article and thanks for informing maj @ s!
