Like every six months, the Ubuntu team launched an image contest to appear in Ubuntu 23.04 like wallpapers. Artists, designers or simply fans (or not even that) can submit their images from January 10, and will be able to continue doing so until February 6. If they are lucky or their work is so good that they win, it will appear as an option when Lunar Lobster launches this April.
There will be 5 winners, and your 5 images will be the ones that will be available in Ubuntu 23.04. None of them will be the one that appears in Lunar Lobster by default, since that wallpaper is reserved for the Ubuntu design team, and, if things don't change much, it will be with purple and orange colors and will have a lobster with a special design.
Ubuntu 23.04 wallpaper contest rules
Whoever wants to participate must submit images that meet certain requirements. The image must be your own and have the rights to it; images with non-own components are not allowed; the picture must have a size of 3840×2160, and its weight is expected to not exceed 10MB; PNG and JPG are accepted, but prefer SVG or WebP formats; avoid compressing the image; Works must be licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0; images must have a title and a Twitter account so the designer can be mentioned.
When the delivery window closes, the voting window will open, and will close on February 17. Winners will be announced on February 18..
It is worth remembering that Ubuntu 23.04 has been the first in history to use an image that was not the wallpaper of the previous version, the one you have heading this article. As for other news related to the Lunar Lobster family, Edubuntu is expected to return as an official flavor.
