It's going to be hard for me to write an article like this, but it's news and it's still important. It's going to be hard for me because it's basically déjà vu, something we've already experienced or seen, and not long ago. It was less than a week ago when my colleague Diego told us that Debian had decided to abandon the social network X, Twitter until Elon Musk bought it and decided to turn everything upside down. What's new is that Xubuntu has decided to follow in his footsteps.
The main difference is that the Xubuntu community manager has not given any explanations in a post he published yesterday, February 4th. In it he only says that have moved to Mastodon and thanking them for the support they have received over the last few years on what we all still call Twitter. And what does the community think?
Few support Xubuntu abandoning X

In the post they explain that "To all our fans, friends and lovers of #Xfce , #Linux and especially #Xubuntu …we are moving! Follow us on floss.social/@xubuntu ! This account will no longer be maintained regularly. Thank you so much for the years of support and our 11.900 (wow!) followers! You guys are the best!«But you don't have to be a genius to realize that this is not a decision taken lightly.
My partner Diego already explained What was your opinion when Debian decided to abandon X? I think that is the majority opinion, to the point that there are people who "say" - see the quotation marks because we will have to see if they follow through on their threats - that they will stop using Debian. In the post about Xubuntu, whose fame is ridiculous compared to that of Debian, they also responded something like "Well, we will move to MS Windows. Simple.«And it is not liked that projects that wave the flag of freedom become politically biased.
But hey. Everyone is free to do what they want. Whether we like it or not.
